Hiking in San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas
The Los Cabos Area has many different types of hiking scenery . There is desert hiking, hiking through the forest all with differnet scenery. There are many hiking trails in Sierra de la Laguna and north as well as east of San Jose del Cabo. Sierra de la Laguna is one of the most popular hiking spots for residents of the Cape area. The view from there of the sierra and of the Pacific Ocean are absolutely breaktaking.
It is possible to hire a guide to hike the sierra. Guide information can be found at any tourist information center. There a a guided tour available to a hot spring in Santiago, (which is a small village, north of San Jose del Cabo). It is a beautiful hike up through boulders to the hot springs. Other hikes could include fossil fields and old mining towns, that are now ghost towns.
The only thing to be careful of when hiking in Los Cabos is when hiking in the desert. You must keep in mind that the desert is extremely dry and you will need more water than normally. The temperature also is cold in the evening, so you must be prepared.
The best time for hiking in usually in September, October, November when the temperature is not too hot nor too cold. Hiking is actually a favorite past time for residents of the Cape ( the area between San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas)
